Stages to become a Company Secretary in 2024?
- Complete Your Education: Obtain a minimum of a 10+2 (senior secondary) qualification from a recognized board.
- Register for CSEET: Clear the Company Secretary Executive Entrance Test (CSEET) to gain admission to the CS program. This is the entry-level exam for the CS course.
- Enroll in the CS Program: After passing CSEET, register for the Company Secretary program through ICSI, which includes three levels: Foundation, Executive, and Professional.
- Complete the Foundation Course: If you are a graduate, you can skip this stage. Otherwise, complete the Foundation course, which covers basic subjects related to Company Secretaryship.
- Complete the Executive Course: After the Foundation course or directly after CSEET, proceed to the Executive level, where you will study advanced subjects related to corporate governance, law, and secretarial practices.
- Practical Training: After completing the Executive course, undertake a 15-month practical training program, which includes working with a company or a practicing company secretary to gain hands-on experience.
- Complete the Professional Course: Enroll in and complete the Professional level of the CS program, which focuses on specialized subjects.
- Obtain Membership: After passing all exams and completing the required training, apply for membership with ICSI to become a certified Company Secretary.
