CA Foundation Course Structure
The CA Foundation course comprises four subjects, divided into both objective and subjective formats:
- Principles and Practice of Accounting
Focuses on the basic principles and concepts of accounting, setting a foundation for higher-level understanding. - Business Laws & Business Correspondence and Reporting
This subject covers essential laws like the Indian Contract Act and Partnership Act, along with communication skills vital for business reporting. - Business Mathematics, Logical Reasoning, and Statistics
This part tests quantitative aptitude, logical reasoning, and statistical methods, helping students develop analytical skills. - Business Economics & Business and Commercial Knowledge

New Syllabus for CA Foundation 2024
The new CA Foundation syllabus has changed to align with the latest industry demands. Two subjects have been discontinued—Business Correspondence & Reporting and Business & Commercial Knowledge. Students are now required to secure 50% marks overall to pass, with 40% in each subject.
Through Foundation Course Route:
> Enroll after passing Class 10th Examination recognized by Indian law or an equivalent examination.
> Appear for Foundation Examination post completion of Senior Secondary Examination (10+2) recognized by Indian law or an equivalent examination.
Through Direct Entry Route:
> Commerce Graduates/Post-Graduates (55%) or Other Graduates/Post-Graduates (60%) can enroll directly in CA-Intermediate.
> Those passing the Intermediate level exam of Institute of Company Secretaries of India or Institute of Cost Accountants of India can also directly enroll in CA-Intermediate.
Candidates must have passed or be appearing for the 10+2 examination from a recognized board.

This CA Foundation course is valid for three years after you have registered. This means that if you fail to pass the CA foundation exam on your first attempt, you can retake the exam up to five times without having to pay the CA registration fee.

Prof. Venkatesh
Venkatesh Shanmugam is a Mathematics postgraduate from PSG College of Arts and Science, Coimbatore (2019–2024). He currently works in an IT company and has been serving as a faculty member at Shilpis Academy since 2024. His areas of expertise include Quantitative Aptitude, Business Mathematics and Statistics, and Operations Management. Over the past four years, he has also taught Mathematics to more than 400 students.
Shilpi Periwal is a highly accomplished Company Secretary with over 16 years of experience in corporate law, practice, and education. She holds a B.Com degree, an MBL from NLSIU, and has cleared her CA Intermediate, in addition to being a trained professional counselor.
Beyond her corporate expertise, Shilpi is a skilled communicator with multiple awards in debate and extempore competitions. She currently serves as the President of the Women Empowerment Committee of Rajasthani Sangh and the Women Entrepreneur Committee of BNI Dynamic Business Forum. She is also a committee member of the Inner Wheel Club, a Charter Member of TiE, and contributes to academia as a Board of Studies member at SNR Arts & Science College and Nirmala College.
